Wishes Granted for Kyrene Teachers

Six Kyrene teachers are recipients of the Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers grants. The charity granted $1 million in grant money to 400 Arizona teachers this year, including six from Kyrene. Teachers were each awarded $2,500 to grant a wish in their classrooms. The Kyrene educators are:

 

Mike Blair, Kyrene de los Niños | Subject: Music
Mike’s wish is to purchase new percussion instruments for students.

 

Daniel Jordan, Altadeña Middle School | Subject: STEM
Daniel’s wish is to create a makerspace with robots, 3D printer and new tools.

 

Leslie Lychock, Kyrene de los Niños | Subject: Kindergarten
Leslie’s wish is to purchase items for classroom organization.

 

Veronica Speir, Kyrene del Norte | Subject: English Language Arts
Veronica’s wish is to create a “Reading Room” for their school.

 

Abbey Walejko, Kyrene Monte Vista | Subject: Kindergarten
Abbey’s wish is to purchase hands-on materials for their students.

 

Brooke Warwick, C.I. Waggoner Elementary School | Subject: Art K-5th Grades
Brooke’s wish is to purchase new classroom art supplies.


Each fall, Arizona K-12 public or charter school teachers are invited to fill out an online application detailing a school or classroom need. The wishes are verified and selected through a random drawing.

 

Over the seven years of the program, Fiesta Bowl Wishes for Teachers has granted $5.7 million to more than 1,600 Arizona teachers, impacting more than 700,000 children across the state. For more information, or for a full list of granted wishes, visit www.fiestabowl.org.
