COVID and Drop off and Pick up information

AM DROP OFF PROCEDURES

  • Please pull up as far as possible and have your children wait in your car until an adult has opened the car door or motioned them to get out of the car. This is essential for social distancing into our building.  Children will be directed back into their car if they get out early.
  •  Children must exit their car on the curb side. This is for their safety.
  •  Please be sure your child is ready to exit your car by having their backpack and other materials ready. Adults dropping off children must stay in their car.
  • When children get out of their cars, they will be directed to enter through a specific door and go straight to their classrooms. Adults will be outside to help them get where they need to go.
  • An adult will be at each door to greet students who will be in a single file line while being spaced apart.
  • If your child rides a bike, he/she will put their bike in the bike rack and walk towards the school. An adult will direct them to the door they are to enter.
  • Integrated preschool families will continue to park their cars in the south parking lot and walk up to the preschool gate by the "M" door.
  • Community preschool will continue to park in the south parking lot and walk to the "L" door to get buzzed into the building.

PM DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

We will have a staggered dismissal:

  • Kindergarten at 1:30; North Gate – parents will walk up to get their children. Cones will be spaced 6 feet apart so you can social distance as you wait for your child. If there is an older sibling we will call for them to come out at this time as well.
  • Kids Club and Bus Riders at 1:35 PM
  • Walkers at 1:40 PM
  • Parent Pick-Up at 1:45 PM – we will begin to stage children in hallways at 1:42 PM
  • Integrated preschool at 1:45; parents will park and walk up to the preschool gate
  • Community preschool will continue to follow the dismissal procedures they currently have in place.
  • Due to staggered dismissal, we request that no students are signed out after 1:00 PM.

For those of you using our parent pick-up lane please do the following:

  • Refrain from using your cell phone so the focus is on getting our children into their cars safely.
  • Place a card on the passenger side dash with your child(ren’s) last name and grade level(s). Please open this attachment for an example of how this card should look parent pick-up card example.pdf
    •  Children will be staged in hallways and we will radio children to come out by reading the names off this card.
  • As children come outside, they will stand by a specific cone as they prepare to get into their cars. We ask that you refrain from waving to your children to have them come to your car early as cars cannot merge out of the lane.
  • When the first children get into their cars, we will clear the lane and load the next group of children. If families have the cards in their windows this process will be much quicker.

We ask for your patience and grace as we work on this new procedure. It will take longer at first but after children and families get used to it, we will be able to load cars and clear the lane quickly.

Breakfast and lunch will be offered free of charge to all children through the 2020-2021 school year. This is due to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Waiver. Your children can still bring their own breakfast items or lunch, however, if they want to eat school breakfast and/or lunch they can do so at no charge. Each day your child’s teacher will ask children if they will be eating a school breakfast or lunch  the next day. This is to help us gauge how many of each we will need the following day.

Children returning in person must wear a mask throughout the day. The only times masks can be removed is when eating or drinking. Please send your child to school every day with a water bottle as water fountains will only be used to fill water bottles. Children cannot drink from them.

Each classroom has a HEPA filter that refreshes the entire classroom every 35 minutes. These HEPA filters capture 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns. This is another of our mitigating procedures to ensure the safety of our staff and children.

While we understand that many of these symptoms can also be due to non-COVID-19 related issues, we must proceed with an abundance of caution during this public health emergency.
