    Free Meals for Children

    USDA enacted waivers to bring back the Summer Feeding Program where all children 0-18 years of age will be given meals for free until June 30, 2022.

    Kyrene Digital Academy, Flex learners, and In-person Kyrene students and siblings (within age range) can get meals for free at this time.

    Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT food stamp cards)

    P-EBT cards will be issued starting April 15, 2021. You need to have a meal application on file for Free or Reduced meal benefits to receive P-EBT funds.  Please contact Linda Stewart at the District Office to confirm if an application is in place for the 2020-2021 school year by phone at 480-541-1350 or email at lstewa@kyrene.org.  More information is available at DES P-EBT webpage.

  • Curbside Free Meals


    2020-21 School Year

    Meal Service for Breakfast and Lunch will be available for all students, whether receiving in-person services or engaging in online learning at home. Students receiving on-site services will have meals provided at the school site. Free meals allow for one breakfast meal and one lunch meal per day per student to be served to them. For In-Person learning all other meals, or Al-a carte items, or additional drinks can be purchased, if the student has money to cover the cost in their meal account at the time of purchase.

    For students in both distance learning options, meals will be available through a curbside pickup system. Curbside pickup will take place Mondays and Thursday at the Kyrene District Office, at 8700 S. Kyrene Rd. in Tempe, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

    • Monday Meal Pickup:  Meals for 3 days - Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
    • Thursday Meal Pickup: Meals for 4 days - Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
    • Adult breakfast $2.00, Adult Lunch $3.65 if you choose to purchase meals

    Students do not have to be present to pick up meals. Once at curbside, call 480-541-1660 to contact Food Service.

    All School Campuses

    Free breakfast and lunch will be served on all school campuses. Sack Breakfast will be given out by teachers to students in the classroom to eat in the classroom. Students will pick up lunch in the cafeteria and take back to the classroom to eat their meals.

  • Pay for Meals Online

    Checks made payable to Kyrene School District and cash in a sealed envelope and labeled for the student are accepted at the school sites for meal accounts. 

    We offer an optional credit card service to make meal payments, view account balance, and review meal history online at www.k12paymentcenter.com. The electronic Check(eChecks) option can be chosen for a $0.95 fee regardless of the total amount, as of 4/7/2020. Payments up to $95.00 will be charged a $1.95 convenience fee, $96.00, and up will be charged a convenience fee of 3.99% of the total payment. One payment may be split multiple children for one transaction fee. Parents may transfer money between accounts themselves. Low balance notifications can be set under Parent Profile to be notified when the meal account is getting low on funds.  

    Please remember to turn off Automatic payments in K12Paymentcenter.com so you don't get charged over summer break, this is found in the Wallet section under Recurring Payment settings by changing the auto payment type to low balance for the summer or change the number of payments to 0.

    Email Notifications

    Food Nutrition Services sends emails through its software with the email address of noreply@mg.mealsplus.com and from School Nutrition Department. Thank you for verifying email settings to ensure the delivery of emails. Check junk/spam folders to ensure the receipt of account balance and meal eligibility notifications.

    National School Lunch Program 

    The National School Lunch Program is a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Through this program, eligible students may be offered free or reduced-price meals. We also participate in the School Breakfast Progam at all schools. Meal payments may be made online, as this program operates in all of the schools in the Kyrene School District. Meal applications are distributed to every student in the district at the beginning of the school year. Application information will remain confidential and will be used only to determine eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. Applications are also available at all school offices or by clicking on the meal application links. 
    It's More Than a Meal Application (reasons to submit a meal application including P-EBT benefits)  
    Please apply for meal benefits, so if eligible, you will recieve P- EBT (food stamp benefits) and meal benefits are in place when we return the National School Lunch Program. Please visit www.lunchapplication.com to submit an online meal application to us. You may turn in paper meal applications to any school office. We need all families to apply whether you are doing Kyrene Digital Academy, Flex option, or In-person school. The Free, Reduced-price, and Paid meal information is used to qualify the school district for other student qualifications and funding. We email the notification of meal status letters to parents when the application is processed. Please watch for noreply@mg.mealsplus.com - School Nutrition Department for the letter. Thank you for applying if you meet the income guidelines.

    Public Notice - Meal Account Refund

    You may request a refund within 4 months of a student withdrawing or graduating from our District. You may make the request by calling 480-541-1660 or by email. We issue a check for the refund. Please include a parent name and address to whom we should issue a refund when emailing the request. Funds may be transferred to another student who remains in Kyrene School District.
