Kyrene Community Education is proud to offer an exciting variety of summer activities for students throughout the Valley. Each summer, Kyrene provides students with daily activities to meet family needs and interests. Students in PreK through 8th grade can enjoy STEM projects, arts and crafts, field trips and more to stay engaged and learning during the summer months.
New this year to Summer Academy programming, families can pick new classes for their child each week. With over 50 courses to mix and match, there is bound to be a program perfect for your child. Learn more about each summer option below!
NEW! Bricks 4 Kidz and Young Rembrandts STEAM Camp
Kyrene has partnered with Bricks 4 Kidz and Young Rembrandts to provide engaging science, technology, engineering, art and math activities. At Kyrene de la Estrella, students in incoming 1st through 5th grade will be introduced to different concepts of STEAM through tactile and visual learning methods. Each week of camp will provide a different theme and a variation of daily activities. Themes include space, amusement park, transportation and forces of nature. Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Summer Academy
Elementary
Families who choose Summer Academy at Kyrene Traditional Academy for their student in incoming 1st through 5th grade can select from a comprehensive list of classes from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. to keep their minds sharp. Some of these classes include Jr. Crime Scene Detectives, where students enter the world of a CSI agent to conduct forensic science experiments or Working with Clay where students will create their own masterpieces with air-dry clay, exploring the basics of clay tools, textures, and techniques.
Middle School
Students in 6th through 8th grades can sign up for courses to get specialized help with math, or explore specific interests from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Kyrene Traditional Academy. Classes include Comic Book Creations, where students become comic book designers, authors, and illustrators or Esports where students use their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in Minecraft or Rocket League.
After Hours
Hosted at Kyrene Aprende Middle School, After Hours is an all-day opportunity for incoming 5th to 8th grade students to make new friends and travel to fun places. Weekly field trips include Arizona Diamondbacks, Medieval Times, Bowlero and more.
Preschool
Hosted at Kyrene de las Brisas and Kyrene de la Estrella, this summer program features weekly themes and a variety of activities to keep children aged 3-5 years and incoming Kindergarteners learning and engaged all day.
Kids Club
Hosted at Kyrene de las Brisas, Kyrene de la Estrella and Kyrene del Norte, Kids Club provides students with a full day of activities including active games, STEM projects, arts and crafts, field trips and more!
Adventure Tours
Hosted at Kyrene Aprende Middle School, Adventure Tours are a full day options for incoming 4th to 8th grade students. Students take part in field trips and on-site events to places like Tonto National Bridge, Chauncy Ranch, Biosphere 2, Titan Missile Museum, bowling, swimming and more.
Sports Camp
Hosted at Kyrene Traditional Academy, Sports Camp is offered from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for incoming 4th to 8th grade students. Each week will focus on enhancing players’ skills in a different sport, including Volleyball, Basketball and Dodgeball. Sports campers stay active, learning new skills and practicing good sportsmanship while being part of a team.
