Open Enrollment
Families who live outside the district or school boundaries are required to submit application to the District and be approved for Open Enrollment prior to finalizing registration at the school. When submitting application for enrollment through the online portal, records are automatically routed for District action by student address. This applies to new families who live outside of Kyrene boundaries, or families wishing to transfer a student to an out-of-boundary school in the 2020-21 school year.
Board Policy JFB and its regulation JFB-R govern the open enrollment program as set forth in A.R.S. §15-816 et seq. More detailed information about eligibility and acceptance may be found in our policy manual which is located at www.kyrene.org/boardpolicy, or available in printed form upon request. Kyrene welcomes open enrollment applications from students with disabilities.

School Attendance Areas
Students are assigned to a home school according to their street address. To find which school your child will attend, enter your address into our eLink system. This system will identify your home school, and whether your child walks or rides a bus. A complete list of school locations and boundary maps are also available for your review.
Documents Required to Finalize Registration
After a student’s application has been approved, families will be contacted and requested to provide the following items to complete registration.
- Child's original or certified birth certificate
- Immunization records
- Proof of residency (e.g. current utility bill, lease agreement, contract on house)
- Photo I.D. (of parent/guardian)
- Records from previous school that are helpful for determining class placement (e.g. report cards, test scores, gifted education placement scores, special education records ‐ IEP and MET, etc.)
