Transportation Eligibility

Bus Transportation is not mandated by the legislature, but a privilege offered by the Kyrene School District. Transportation service will be offered to:

Elementary Students - Students who attend their home school, and lives more than 1.5 mile from the school of attendance.
Middle School Students - Students who attend their home school, and lives more than 2 miles from the school of attendance.
Open Enrollment - Students who reside in South Phoenix, and Maricopa are eligible for transportation to designated schools. You can view those designated schools here. For Open Enrollment a request must be submitted to the transportation department before placement on a bus route.
Exceptional Student Services - Students within this program are eligible for specialized transportation if designated in your IEP. Please reach out to your student(s) school for more information.
McKinney-Vento - For transportation information or information on this program please reach out to Federal Programs to determine eligibility.

Ineligible Students - Students who traditionally aren't eligible for transportation may submit an Additional Rider request if room permits. Important to note, after your request has been submitted it can take up to 10 days to get a response. At the beginning of the school year, request will not be fulfilled for the first 30 days of school as we work through confirming student counts.
