24/7 Support

The system, managed in partnership with Sandy Hook Promise and Navigate360, includes access to licensed crisis counselors and is designed to strengthen both after-hours response and student well-being. This is part of Kyrene’s broader safety strategy, which includes social-emotional learning, staff training, emergency planning, and strong partnerships with public safety agencies. Our goal with SpeakUp Kyrene is to intervene early, support students in crisis, and create a culture where every student feels safe, supported, and heard.

Know the Signs

SpeakUp Kyrene is designed to prevent individuals who may be in crisis from hurting themselves or others by intervening to get them help.

Advanced research on school shootings and violence reveals one commonality: before every mass shooting attack, act of violence, or suicide, there are warning signs. One warning sign on its own does not necessarily mean a person is planning an act of violence. But when many connected or cumulative signs are observed over a period of time, it could mean that the person is heading down a pathway towards violence or self-harm. Once we know the signs, we can get help to intervene.

Responsible Reporting

Students play a vital role in maintaining safe and supportive schools, and SpeakUp Kyrene empowers them to take that role seriously. Students now have a tool to heed the advise to "report, don't repost." Training and education are key to the system's success. Students will receive guidance on the responsible use of the platform, and the district will regularly share information about the tool to families and community members.
