Congratulations to Ellen Pope, Visual Arts Teacher at Waggoner Elementary, for receiving a School Arts Grant from the City of Tempe. The grant was awarded to expand and enhance the services already provided by arts curriculum, programs, and clubs. Ellen's proposed project titled 'A Character Counts Mosaic' will be an art project that impacts 562 students, plus the staff and community of Waggoner. The 48'x3' mosaic will illustrate the ongoing school-wide 'no place for hate' project.

Kinora Hernandez to be recognized by California Casualty and the NEA Foundation at 2018 Washington DC Awards Gala
Press Release: Kinora Hernandez, structured English immersion coach at Kyrene de las Manitas Elementary School in Tempe, Arizona, is one of 38 public educators receiving the prestigious California Casualty Award for Teaching Excellence.
Ms. Hernandez was presented with a $650 check and flowers during a surprise faculty meeting at Kyrene de las Manitas from California Casualty Account Relations Manager Jill Strandquist.
Ms. Hernandez will also be honored at the NEA Foundation’s Salute to Excellence in Education Gala to be held in Washington, DC on February 9, 2018.
In addition, Kinora received the Christa McAuliffe "I Touch the Future, I Teach" award. Congratulations, Kinora!
