Middle School

Middle School Philosophy

The middle school program establishes consistency in academic excellence. Students in all grade levels (6-8) receive their core instruction from a team of teachers with access to different levels of exploratory options.

Course Options

All middle schools offer a variety of exploratories including: art, physical education, world languages (Spanish) chorus, band, orchestra, STEM/multi-media, culinary arts, traditional, college prep and gifted: Choice Programs

Class placement is determined by a review of different measures including test scores, teacher recommendation and consultation with parents. Each Kyrene middle school offers opportunities for students identified as gifted as well as for advanced learners. Grade level and advanced classes are available in Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. High school level courses in mathematics and Spanish are available to students who qualify.

Parent Involvement

Parents are encouraged to continue to be active participants in their child’s education. Our middle schools have many volunteer opportunities for parents and families. Each middle school has their own parent organization, Site Council and representatives on the Parent/Superintendent Council.
