IB Middle Years Programme
Currently, KMS, along with all middle schools in Kyrene, will experience improvements as a result of the district’s middle school redesign. These changes are related to academic excellence, responsive instruction and support and student agency. As an authorized IB world school, teachers use IB methodologies: Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning and Global Contexts. Students will also participate in comprehensive projects that are integrated across curricular areas of study and involve real-world learning experience for our students.
An IB program aims to develop internationally-minded learners, working within a global context and explores significant content. An IB program has a strong world language component which would provide our dual-language students with an option to continue their focus into middle school.
The learner profile for IB is the IB mission statement translated into a set of learning outcomes for the 21st century.
