    Dear Centennial Families,

I am thrilled to join the Centennial community as the Acting Principal for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. As Dr. Vesely shared in her message last week, the Kyrene School District is committed to finding the right principal to lead Centennial for the long term. However, until that person has been identified, I am honored to serve the students, staff and families at Centennial.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona State University, and I completed my coursework in Educational Leadership at the University of Phoenix.

I have worked in the Kyrene School District for the last 25 years.  I began as a classroom teacher at Kyrene de la Esperanza. I served as the Assistant Principal at Kyrene de las Manitas and as the Principal at Kyrene de la Colina and Kyrene del Milenio. I have also worked at the District Office in a variety of capacities. Most recently I have served as the Director of School Effectiveness, providing mentorship and support to principals and assistant principals across the district. I believe these experiences will benefit Centennial, as I bring a strong knowledge of Kyrene systems and structures as well as the Kyrene community to my work. I am proud to be part of the Kyrene School District and I consider Kyrene to be my second family.

Speaking of family, I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we have two children who both attended the Kyrene School District. My son is currently a student at Corona del Sol and my daughter is a Biotechnology major at Arizona State University.   In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, reading, and spending time with my family.

Centennial is a school with a strong & dedicated teaching staff, a caring community, and amazing students & families. I believe that children are the reason that we are all here, and that the greatest gift that we can give of ourselves is to make a difference for a child. Middle school is a time of great transition for students- both in terms of their social-emotional development as well as their academic growth. This means that the middle school years are crucial in terms of student success and along with the Centennial staff, I am dedicated to ensuring that all students who cross our threshold receive our full support and guidance as they navigate their way through this transition.

If I can answer any questions for you about Centennial or about the Kyrene School District, or be of any other assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can always be reached at cfured@kyrene.org . I am excited to connect and engage with the CMS community.
