• PLEASE READ IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!!

    Kyrene Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work to ensure our students and families are safe during this time.  Due to the decision to continue school closure through April 10, Kyrene’s spring athletic season is cancelled.  We will be issuing refunds to our families for the full registration amount of $150.00 for Baseball and Basketball athletics fees and $110.00 for Track and Field athletics fees.   We have begun working on the refund process and ask for your patience as we work through this new protocol.

Athletic uniforms are an important component of our programs.  We will not be collecting uniforms at this time; therefore this step will not delay athletic fees from being issued.  Once it is safe to return to school, we will be establishing a procedure to collect athletic uniforms and we ask that you help us in gathering and returning those uniforms when it is time.

We are very excited for our students in grades 6, 7, and 8 to join the Kyrene Athletic Program for the 2019-2020 school year. We know that this is something students, staff, and the community have been looking forward to for the past two years! For the 2019-2020 school year, KTA will be offering a number of competitive sports teams on campus. Please see the chart below. Because of some limitations on equipment, the size of our field areas, etc., we will continue to offer wrestling, track and field, girls soccer, boys soccer, girls softball, and baseball for KTA students at Aprende. Kyrene School District will provide transportation to Aprende for Athletes that make the Aprende Athletic teams. All transportation to away games will be provided by the Kyrene School District. Parents must provide on-time transportation home from all home and away games.

Students interested in the Kyrene Athletic Program will need to adhere to the same expectations for sports physicals, fees, and try-outs as the other middle schools.

The Goals for every participant are :

    • Physical Skills necessary in the sport or activity
    • An awareness of progressive skill requirements needed to continue in the growth of a specific sport or activity
    • Respect for the efforts, abilities and rights of others
    • The awareness of leadership responsibilities in school, community and life contacts, as well as on the field
    • Active participation by all members of the team

All participants are required to complete online registration and submit participation forms in order to tryout or participate on a team. Payments must be made before the first practice for cut-sports and by the second practice for non-cut sports.
