  • About the Principal

My name is Emily Pieper and this is my 8th year at Colina and first year as Principal. I am honored to have called Kyrene de la Colina home, having served as Assistant Principal for the last seven years. I am a strong supporter of Colina’s Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) initiative and thrives on creating STEM experiences and project-based learning opportunities for students. As Assistant Principal, I established Colina’s Junior Coach program and oversaw the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). I believe in harnessing students’ individual strengths and differences to help them reach their full potential, and help to ensure Colina’s classrooms are equitable and inclusive environments where every student gets what they need to succeed.

Prior to joining the Colina leadership team, I was an instructional coach and an elementary classroom teacher. I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Arizona State University and hold a master’s degree in educational administration. I am a Phoenix native and is now raising my own Arizona kids, twin girls who will turn three this year. In my off hours, you can find me in the pool or curled up inside watching a movie hanging out with my family.

I am passionate about building positive relationships with students and families, and I look forward to continuing those connections in my new role as Principal. It is my pleasure to serve our Colina community. I look forward to an eventful year filled with joy, laughter and lots of learning!

    Academically yours,

    Emily Pieper, M.A. Ed
