General Music at KTA
Using Orff process, KTA students experience music by singing, playing a variety of barred instruments (xylophones, etc.), unpitched instruments (drums, tambourines, etc.), recorders (4th and 5th grade); and movement (body percussion, dancing, walking to the beat, etc.). They become musically literate as they learn to read and notate what they can already sing or play. They learn to evaluate and describe music they hear and perform. Students learn how to improvise (question and answer, call and response) and create a written composition as they grow in their musical skills. They learn music vocabulary (tempo, dynamics, melody, rhythm, expression, timbre, form, meter, genre, etc.) as they engage in singing and playing games.
