     Aprende Peer Mediators

Peer mediation is both a program and a process where students of the same age-group facilitate resolving disputes between two people or small groups.  Through student request, Mr. Verrill and or our Social Work Interns select peer mediators who have been trained to resolve conflict and set up a peer mediation meeting.  Typically, this is done during AcLab, as not to disrupt core classroom instruction.  New peer mediators are trained each year and are selected by teacher referral.

The process is voluntary for both sides.  Peer mediators do not "make decisions" but rather work towards a win-win resolution for both sides in order to avoid further trouble.
