Enrollment/Registration

Open enrollment is ongoing for the 2025-26 school year, and applications are reviewed daily. Current families requesting a change of school are encouraged to submit these requests in the first window.

Submission windows for the 2026-27 school year are:

• February 3 - February 9

• February 10 - February 23

• February 24 - March 9

• March 10 - March 23
  March 16-20, Spring Break/District Closed

• March 24 - April 6

At the close of the established collection windows for Open Enrollment application, families are notified of whether their application has been approved or denied to move forward. After the close of the last window, registrations are reviewed on a first come basis. 

After a student’s application has been approved, families will be contacted and requested to provide the following items to complete registration:

• Child's original or certified birth certificate
• Immunization records
• Proof of Residency Form / Shared Residence Form
• Photo I.D. (of parent/guardian)
• Records from previous school that are helpful for determining class placement (e.g. report cards, test scores, gifted education placement scores, special education records ‐ IEP and MET, etc.)

You will be notified by either phone call or email before the new school year begins. 

If you're accepted, you'll need to submit the required documents, either electronically or in person, to the school within 10 days.

If a school or grade is not accepting open enrollment and the student’s application includes all required documents, the district will reach out with alternative options, if available, or give opportunity to have the application placed on a waitlist.  Please note that due to fluctuations in district and school enrollment, actual capacity on a given day may be different than what is indicated below. This information is updated at least every 12 weeks.

Children who will turn five between September 1 and December 31 may apply for an age exception to enter kindergarten early.

Early entrance will be approved for children who demonstrate exceptional social and emotional maturity, and whose learning needs are advanced. These children should perform similarly in respect to behavior, social, emotional, and academic skills to their older classmates in order to meet the challenges of Kyrene’s kindergarten curriculum. We will admit children early whenever we feel confident that they can be successful during the kindergarten year and move on to first grade with the necessary skills, maturity, and confidence.
