Requirements

1) Arizona Sub Certification - The Substitute certificate entitles the holder to substitute in the temporary absence of a regular contract teacher. The certificate is valid for 6 years and is renewable.

2) Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card - The Arizona Revised Statutes (Statutes) require members of many professions to have an active fingerprint clearance card prior to or as a condition of licensure, certification, or employment.

Completed applications are being reviewed by Talent Management on a daily basis.

Talent Management will contact you via the email address you provided in your application, if you are selected to move forward in the hiring process. You will then be directed to complete and electronically submit required hiring documents that will be linked in the email notification you receive. When your documents are complete and electronically submitted, you will be sent an email invitation to attend an onboarding session.

If I recently retired with ASRS, does it matter how many hours I substitute?

Do Substitutes accrue "sick" time? How do I use it?

Yes. As indicated in the Substitute Handbook , Substitutes will accrue “Accrued Compensatory Absences” (ACA) at the defined hourly rate of .0333. Substitutes may earn up to 40 hours of Prop 206 ACA time for the year. Pursuant to Prop 206, ACA time does not carry over in excess of 40 hours per year. ACA may only be utilized in accordance with the appropriate use language included in the Substitute Handbook.

A substitute must have already accepted an assignment and have a qualifying reason to use ACA. (See the Substitute Handbook for appropriate use language.) Substitutes would need to contact the District Substitute Coordinator immediately at 480-541-1301, and then enter the absence in both the Absence Management System as well as the TCP time clock system.
