Learn At Home Resources - Middle School ELA

Students may practice literacy skills through skill-based practice and MyPerspectives activities from the English Language Arts curriculum. Students may also read on any topic of interest.

Part 1. Skill-Based Practice (for grades 6-8)

Students may complete the standards-based activities below to support their skill development in language arts. The order in which the activities are completed does not matter.

Part 2. MyPerspectives Activities, by grade level

Students may use resources from the following MyPerspectives Units. This is a unit for each grade level that is not used for instruction during the year.

  • 6th Grade: Unit 3 - Modern Technology
  • 7th Grade: Unit 2 - A Starry Home
  • 8th Grade: Unit 5 - Invention

Texts and their associated questions may be found in the online platform of MyPerspectives (accessed the same way as in school).

Logging into MyPerspectives from home:

  1. Visit Kyrene Educational Resources in Google Chrome.
  2. Click on Pearson Easy Bridge (about halfway down on the right side).
  3. Log in with Kyrene Google Account.
  4. Open the relevant unit and text listed in the table below.

Part 3. Independent Reading (20 minutes per day)

Encourage your child to read a topic of their choosing at least 20 minutes per day. Many local libraries offer digital e-book rentals through the OverDrive app with a city library card.
