About Mrs. Ward
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome! I am the Academic Interventionist at Esperanza. I provide additional small group instruction for K-5 students. My goal is to inspire students, families, and teachers to love reading and writing and especially to love books. I hope those that I encounter will become lifelong learners and thinkers who aspire to achieve their highest potential.
I have been teaching for 22 years, all but one has been in Kyrene. Before becoming an Academic Interventionist, I was a Literacy Coach and taught first grade, fifth grade, sixth grade, and eighth grade.
I grew up in Southern California and graduated with my BA in Psychology from UC Riverside then received my Teaching Credential from Cal Poly Pomona. A few years later, I earned my M.ED in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Reading from Arizona State University. I have lived in Arizona for 25 years and love it here.
Outside of school I love to read and I love baseball, especially the California Angels. My family and I enjoy traveling, hiking and watching movies. I have a 21-year old daughter, Allie and a 19 year old son, Brett.
I look forward to working with the students, families, and staff at Esperanza.
