About Mrs. Schneider
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to our classroom website! My name is Kelley Schneider and I teach third grade at Kyrene Monte Vista in the Ahwatukee Foothills. I have taught at Monte Vista since 1999, teaching both third and fourth grades. I hold a BA from San Jose State University and a M.Ed from Ottawa University. Taking college and district classes keeps me up-to-date on the best educational practices. I love teaching and learning! I was one of 220 teachers from around the world, chosen to go to Space Camp for Educators at the US Rocket and Space Center in Huntsville, Alabama. We went through some very exciting astronaut training and learned all about space. I even got to be on the morning news with Kim Covington! I am a lifelong learner and want my students to have the same passion for learning.
My husband and I have two children who attended Kyrene schools. Our son Jeremy is a Mesa firefighter and owns a kayak rental business. He owns a home in West Phoenix and a ranch in Gilbert. Our daughter Allison graduated with a masters degree with honors from the University of Arizona and is now a speech-language pathologist working with Newport Beach School District. She and her husband have a house in Rancho Santa Margarita which is proving to be a lovely vacation destination! In my spare time, I love to hike, read, play tennis, scuba dive, go to our cabin in Pine, and travel.
Our classroom is filled with child-centered inquiries where each student can reach his or her potential. Meaningful learning which actively engages the students is essential for learning to occur. Our classroom community will promote a safe atmosphere for students to explore different strategies to obtain answers and become critical thinkers. It will be an exciting year in third grade!
Together, we can help your child have a successful 3rd grade year. I look forward to working with you this year!
