Summer 2023 P-EBT Benefits
DES will begin processing the school-aged children for their Summer 2023 P-EBT benefits on August 7, 2023. Due to the number of school-aged children DES received from the Arizona Department of Education, the processing will take several weeks to complete. DES will be processing the children by the school districts. As the school districts are completed, we will be updating a weekly list of districts and the availability of the child’s one-time payment of $120 based on the first letter of the child’s last name. View the P-EBT Issuance Schedule.
For newly eligible school-aged children who received a letter stating they will receive a P-EBT card in the mail in your student’s name, we will be providing estimated mailing dates from the card manufacturer as we receive them. See your estimated card date.
- Each eligible school-aged child will receive a letter.
- Each eligible school-aged child who received a Summer 2022 P-EBT benefit will receive their 2023 Summer P-EBT benefit on the same case number and P-EBT card. (View the sample X035 P-EBT letter)
- Newly eligible school-aged children who did not receive the Summer 2022 P-EBT benefit to a P-EBT card will receive a P-EBT card through the US mail after benefit issuance. View the P-EBT card. Your letter will provide instructions on how to set up a PIN when you receive the P-EBT card. (View the sample X034 P-EBT letter.)

What school-aged children are automatically eligible for Summer P-EBT?
Students who were eligible for free or reduced-price meals during the 2022-2023 school year at an NSLP participating school and enrolled during the last calendar month of the school year are eligible for Summer P-EBT and no action is needed by the household to receive the benefit.
Students enrolled during the last calendar month of the school year in a NSLP site participating in Community Eligibility Provision, Provision 2 or Provision 3 cycle are eligible for Summer P-EBT and no action is needed by the household to receive the benefit.
