School Counseling
A School Counselor provides support to all students on campus to address their academic, social/emotional, and career development. This can be done in several ways:
- School Counselors can provide brief, short-term, individual counseling for 6-8 sessions for a student. In this setting, school counselors will focus specifically on ways to address the student's academic or social/emotional concerns as it relates to performance at school.
- School Counselors can also provide small group counseling to students. Please see Family Newsletters for information about these small groups.
- School Counselors provide whole group instruction to students in class targeting specific SEL Competencies.
If you would like to refer your student to receive School Counseling support, please complete the School Counselor Referral Form (Parent/Caregiver)
-
Outpatient Counseling
An outpatient mental health provider (Counselor, Social Worker, Psychologist, Psychiatrist) can be a resource for students who need more ongoing counseling than the School Counselor is able to provide.
To identify an outpatient mental health provider, you will begin by calling the phone number on the back of your insurance card. This will generate a list of available clinicians in the area who accept your insurance.
If you experience barriers in this process, I would encourage you to contact me so I can help you navigate the system. I can be reached by filling out this Google form

Hygiene and Clothing
If your student needs an emergency change of clothes while at school, they are welcome to visit my office. I can also provide travel sized toiletries for students (toothbrush/toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, etc). If you and your family would benefit from having these supplies sent home, please contact me (480-541-3623) or contact the Kyrene Family Resource Center (480-541-4772)
-
Food and Snacks
If your student forgot to bring a snack to school, encourage them to visit my office. If your family would benefit from snacks being sent home to provide more consistency, you can reach out to me (480-541-3623) or contact the Kyrene Family Resource Center (480-541-4772).
If your family could benefit from additional food supplies at home, I can provide that support as well. We partner with St. Mary's Food Bank, which allows me to send home a free bag of food each week in your student's backpack. Additionally, Kyrene families are welcome to visit our Kyrene Family Resource Center 1x/month for a free food box. Please reach out to me if you would like more information.
