This year we have a special LAB schedule every Wednesday. We have carefully designed this day to give all students the chance to extend learning in Math and Reading and so that they can experience some elective type of courses that are of interest to them. Below are our current Wednesday labs.
LSA LSB LSD LSE Lab Name Short Description Lab Name Short Description Lab Name Short Description Lab Name Short Description Book Club Students will be reading a chapter book, discussing events in the book, and completing literature circle roles. Literature circle roles include: discussion director, summarizer, word finder, connector, character analyzer, and predictor. Passion Projects Students will be researching and creating a project on something they are passionate about. Guided Drawing Students will practice following step by step guides to complete pictures accurately. This will work their fine motor skills and stamina. Coding Students will be using code.org and scratch to work on their coding skills and will engage in coding lessons from code.org. Game Show Students will be playing a variety of game shows using Kahoot, Quizizz, and Blooket, plus games such as Jeopardy and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Coding Students will use code.org, kodable, or scratch jr. to work on their coding skills. Creative Writing Students will complete creative writing projects including fiction and nonfiction topics. Passion Projects Designed for our gifted children, we will work on developing projects that the students are most interested in. Mystery/Puzzles Students will complete academic puzzles using ELA and math skills structured similar to escape the room. Gifted This lab is for students who are gifted as well as any high achieving students. Students will be completing quarter long projects involving state and world topics. Coding Students will be using Code.org , Kodable, Bee Bots and maybe even Scratch to work on their coding skills. Play Lab Play based learning for Kinder and First Grades. Generation Genius Students will have a lesson on a science standard topic that includes a small class project or a take-home project. Mystery Puzzles Students will complete academic puzzles using ELA and math skills structured similar to escape the room. STEM Bags Students will be building creations with different STEM materials (hash tag blocks, pattern blocks, brain flakes etc.) based on specific tasks and challenges. Tear Art Students will create art and develop their fine motor skills in the process Finish and Submit A club only as needed for those students that need extra help or more guidance when working on an assignment. Mystery Science Students will be answering a mystery question by participating in different lessons, activities, and experiments. Storytime Lab Students will listen to a read aloud and deepen their understanding of story elements through crafts and various activities Directed Drawings Students will be using their drawing and their direction following skills to complete drawings of different topics. Yoga Using Cosmic Yoga- students will learn about mindfulness and self love ART Music PE Lab Name Short Description Lab Name Short Description Lab Name Short Description LSD - Animal Drawing Study Students will select an animal, research that animal, and create a drawing of it Percussion Ensemble for LSB Steel Drums and other percussion ensemble. Quarter 1- LSA and LSB- Team Sports In depth focus on team sports, plays, rules etc. LSA - U.S. National Park Landscape Drawing Study Students will select a U.S. National Park, research that park, and create a drawing inspired by that park Chorus for LSA Students will learn 2-4 songs Quarter 2- LSD and LSE- Playground Games Focus on games played on playground, tag, 4 square, etc. LSB - Chihuly-inspired Sculpture Students will work collaboratively with classmates to create a hanging sculpture inspired by Dale Chihuly using recycled plastic and paint Drum circle for LSD Students will play hand drums and tubanos Quarter 2 All Learning Studios-Cooperative Games and Challenges Games that make you think to accomplish a task or get poi LSE - Painted Paper Collages Students will create several piece of painted paper and use them to create collages with scissors and glue Folk Dance/Music games LSE Folkdances, play parties and music games. Quarter 3 All Learning Studios- Hoops and Ropes Games played with Hula Hoops, and Jump Ropes Quarter 4-All learning Studios- Kick Bal Learning the rules and playing Kick Ball
