¡Hola a todos!
My name is Madison Rivera and I will be your child’s new Spanish 2 teacher here at Altadeña! To give you an idea of who I am and where I come from, I grew up in Ahwatukee, attended Akimel A-al Middle school and later on, Desert Vista High School. I took my first Spanish class as a 7th grader and absolutely fell in love with the language as well as the culture. While I do have Mexican roots, I grew up only speaking English and had always wondered what my other culture was all about. My first Spanish class ignited a spark in me to pursue learning the language to mastery and to start exploring the culture that comes along with it. I continued taking Spanish throughout high school at Desert Vista and then decided to major in Spanish Education when I arrived at NAU. From there, I studied abroad in Costa Rica, and graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Spanish Education in 2018. I then student taught at Centennial Middle School and made the trek back up to NAU to pursue my master’s degree. I will now be graduating with a Master of Arts in Teaching Spanish this November and could not be more excited to begin teaching Spanish at Altadeña. This is truly the job I have always dreamed of and I hope you all are as excited as I am to begin this journey together! While I know that this year has been unprecedented and has presented challenges for all of us, I can assure you that my primary goal is to provide your children the education and support that they deserve by sharing my knowledge and passion of the Spanish language.
