Kyrene Distance Learning Plan
As required by the Governor's Executive Orders (EO), 2020-51, 2020-44, and 2020-41 for the 2020-21 school year, the District has developed a comprehensive Distance Learning Plan. On June 24, 2020, Governor Ducey issued Executive Order 2020-41 Prioritizing Kids and Schools During COVID-19 regarding the reopening of schools for school year 2020-2021. As part of the Executive Order, all public schools may submit a Distance Learning Plan (DLP) to receive the flexibility to offer distance learning options for students without an approved Arizona Online Instruction (AOI) program for the 2020-2021 school year. School districts are required to submit a DLP to the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) prior to implementing distance learning.
Serving our Students (SOS) Plan
As required by the Governor's Executive Orders (EO), 2020-51, 2020-44, and 2020-41 for the 2020-21 school year, the District must provide free on-site learning opportunities and support services, so that students who need a place to go or who have specific needs are well-supported, and schools are enabled to continue effective distance learning successfully for all students beginning no later than August 17. These services include student supervision and strategic support for students in need during standard school hours, which may include teacher-led or paraprofessional support for students with distance learning.
The District may adopt procedures to ensure that the number of students present for free on-site support services does not exceed the maximum number of students who can be present in a facility while maintaining appropriate physical distancing or other mitigation strategies.
The District will notify parents of the opportunities and support services and directly contact students in the free or reduced priced lunch meal program, students with disabilities, English language learners, and McKinney-Vento/Foster Care students.
Mitigation Plan: Kyrene Safety Measures
As required by the Governor's Executive Order (EO), 2020-51, the District shall adopt a mitigation plan prior to opening a school building for on-site support services or in-person instruction and shall post its mitigation plan on the school district website prior to opening the school building for on-site support services or in-person instruction.
Kyrene School District has prepared a comprehensive safety measures plan, based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, Arizona Department of Health Services, Maricopa County Public Health Department and the Arizona Department of Education’s Roadmap to Reopen Schools, to mitigate risk of exposure and transmission of COVID-19 in our schools. The health and safety of our students and staff is a top priority for us and we will continue to evaluate and enhance our safety measures to meet our commitments.
