    Hello and Welcome!  I am Camen Buchanan and I am your resource math teacher for the 2020-2021 school year.  

    This is my first year as a Kyrene teacher and my second year as a Kyrene parent.  My children attend Manitas and Paloma elementary schools.  I am also the parent of an exceptional student, so I know what it is like to be on both sides of the table at IEP meetings.  Before coming to Kyrene, I taught resource math and study strategies at Arcadia High School.  Before that, I taught middle school resource math and study strategies for 6 years at Sunset Ridge Middle School in West Jordan, Utah.  I recently earned my National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certification in Exceptional Needs.  

    When I am not at school, I enjoy reading, cooking, baking with my kids, taking road trips with my family, being in the mountains and fishing with my kids.  

    A few of my favorite things:

    * After 8 years in Utah, I love the mountains and being outdoors.  

    * I am an Arizona native and prefer blue and red to maroon and gold.  

    * My favorite movies are "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "Star Wars"

    * I love chocolate, coffee and pizza.
