About the Principal
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Kyrene de los Niños community. Niños is a wonderful place where we have a vision of inspiring growth, valuing all, everyone, everyday.
I was born in Elgin, Illinois, a town outside of Chicago. When I was 10 we moved to Arizona. I graduated from Mesa High School and completed my bachelor's degree from Arizona State University. Later, I received my master degree in education from Northern Arizona University and completed another 36 hours in administration for my principal certificate.
It has been an honor to be an employee of the Kyrene School district for the past 26 years. I started out as a guest teacher and resource instructional assistant. In 1996 I was hired as a teacher at Kyrene del Sureño. During my ten years at Sureño I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. I had a desire to work with staff, students, and community and took the next step by becoming an assistant principal. I was an assistant principal for eight years at various sites across the district, principal for six year at Sierra before coming to Niños.
I have been married for almost 30 years and have two children. Our daughter attends Arizona State University to become a teacher and our son will be a senior in high school. We are avid college football fans (with ASU Sun Devils being our favorite).
Niños is truly an amazing place for students, staff and community. We value and embrace our diverse community. We strive to build a trusting partnership with our families in order to empower our students to be confident creators of their future. We look forward to working with you on your child's educational journey.
