Hello and Welcome!
I am so excited to be part of the amazing community of Ahwatukee, and to be teaching 8th grade math resource. I absolutely love this community; friendly people, wonderful restaurants, and great fitness opportunities !!!
I was born in Iowa City, Iowa and grew up in a small town along the Mississippi. I’m a huge Hawkeye fan, and I enjoy watching football games with fellow Iowans. My hometown, Muscatine is referred to as the Pearl of The Mississippi, because of the pearl button industry. Muscatine is also referenced in Samuel Clemens writings, “And I remember Muscatine—still more pleasantly—for its summer sunsets. I have never seen any, on either side of the ocean, that equalIed them.”
I have two sons that still live in Iowa. Brock is 21, and is a biomedical engineer. Johnny is 18, and will start his second year of college this fall. They both enjoy visiting Arizona, and perhaps someday will relocate here!
I graduated from Muscatine HIgh School and received my associates degree from Muscatine Community College. I continued my education at St. Ambrose University where I earned my BA in elementary education, with endorsements in English Language Arts and Special Education. I also earned my Master’s Degree in Special Education. I am currently licensed to teach in Iowa and Arizona.
My teaching experiences are vast, and rage from special education, 2nd grade, to PreAP Math for 5th graders. My last year in Iowa I had the absolute privilege of coaching and mentoring new teachers. This is my first year as a middle school teacher, and I’m proud to be part of your child’s educational journey. This is going to be one of the best years yet!!!! I’m looking forward to growing with your middle school child, and meeting everyone this fall.
