Hello! I am Adria Wauson and I am the new Ninos Math Interventionist. I am so honored and excited to be a part of this amazing community! I am new to Ninos, Kyrene and to Arizona but I am not new to teaching. My husband, daughter and I just moved here from San Antonio, Texas in June due to my husband’s job transfer. We are so excited to be here and start this new adventure in our lives.
A little about me:
I am a HUGE bookworm and love reading! My absolute favorites are the whole Harry Potter and pretty much all things Harry Potter. I also love coffee whether hot or iced and frequently have a Starbucks Caramel Macchiato in my hand and a book in the other. You’ll also see my favorite color, turquoise, everywhere I possibly can.
My husband, Mark, and I have just celebrated our 21st year wedding anniversary and we are blessed to have our daughter, Jordyn, who is in first grade here at Ninos with me. She is the light of our lives and brings more joy to our lives than words can describe. We also have two furbabies which are our Yorkies, Brandy and Lexi.
My teaching career began in 1997 after graduating with my teaching degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. I have taught first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grades and I have also spent time as a Campus Curriculum Coach. I have proudly taught in San Antonio and in El Paso, Texas where I was born and raised. While I was teaching in El Paso I was incredibly honored and humbled to be named a Campus, District and finalist for Region 19 Teacher of the Year. Despite having been in education for 20+ years, I am a proud learner and grasp any opportunity to learn all I can from every experience. I am currently finishing up my master’s degree from Grand Canyon University in reading. So not only do you have a Math Interventionist who LOVES math but also reading! I do all I can to integrate reading in everything I teach because I truly believe that reading is the foundation of all we do as learners.
I am so thrilled to be here at Ninos and can’t wait to meet each of you! Please know that I am always here to support you especially in math as well as however I can.
