Introducing Summer Meals
The Kyrene School District is pleased to announce a new summer food service option for children in our community. This summer, free breakfast and lunch will be available for all children and teenagers, ages 18 and younger, at Kyrene de los Niños Elementary School.
There is no registration necessary, and children and teens do not have to be Kyrene students to receive a meal. The new breakfast and lunch service can help kids beat the summer blues by giving them a free, fun spot to meet up with friends. It’s also a great option for busy families, and adult meals are available for purchase if parents and guardians wish to join their children. (Adult breakfast is $2.00, and adult lunch is $3.50.)
Meals will be available Monday through Thursday, from June 3 to July 24. (excluding Wednesday, July 3 and Thursday, July 4 when the Kyrene School District will be closed.)
Breakfast 7:45 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.
Lunch 11:25 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The summer food service is possible thanks to a partnership with the Arizona Department of Education’s (ADE) Summer Lunch Buddies program and Southwest Foodservice Excellence (SFE), and Kyrene is able to offer these free meals to children at no cost to the District.
If breakfast and lunch are in high demand at Kyrene de los Niños this summer, the District may consider expanding summer food service to another ADE-qualified site in the future. For more information on the Summer Lunch Buddies program, visit www.azhealthzone.org/summerfood.
