    Dr. Collins

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the principal of Kyrene de las Manitas. I am an Arizona native and Kyrene kid. I grew up attending Lomas, Kyrene Junior High and Centennial Middle School. The connection does not end there however, because my husband is a teacher in Kyrene and our two boys, Tony and Brody, both attended Kyrene schools.

I attended ASU for my degree in elementary education and went on to earn two master's degrees, and most recently, my doctorate from NAU. I began teaching at Manitas in 1998 and was here for 13 years before becoming a Dean of Students at Cerritos. I was there for 4 years before branching out of Kyrene to become a principal in Mesa Public Schools. I was there for three years and came back to Kyrene in 2018 as the principal at Estrella. I am so happy to have come full circle back to Manitas.

Although we are entering a year like we have never experienced, I am confident that the Manitas families, students and staff have what it takes to get through it together! We have a focus this year on the social emotional well-being of students and ourselves, and on clear, consistent communication with our families.

Please reach out to me at anytime. I am looking forward to getting know Manitas students and families this year!

    Just keep swimming,
