Hello! I am the Extended Resource Teacher at Centennial Middle School. I am starting my 8th year of teaching and have all of my experience in special education classrooms. I have taught in Illinois, Iowa, and Arizona.
I graduated from Illinois State University in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education with a focus as a Learning and Behavior Specialist. Currently, I am attending Arizona State University to acquire my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Applied Behavioral Analysis. In addition, I continue my education in other ways by attending training and workshops related to special education practices and laws, instructional strategies for children with special needs, and behavioral intervention techniques. Aside from teaching, I spend time working 1-on-1 in the home providing direct ABA services as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
Outside of the school, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my fur-children. I have two dogs, Wrigley and Brody Bear, and two cats, Mosby and Picasso. With four fur-children, they definitely keep me busy! I am a Chicago native so I am OBSESSED with the Chicago Cubs. In addition, I am very passionate about fitness and healthy living. I attend the gym routinely as well as compete in 5K races and obstacle course challenges, such as Tough Mudders and Spartan Races. Outside of fitness, I enjoy spending time in the outdoors either hiking, going on backpacking trips, and camping. Also, I get involved with fundraisers and activities related to individuals with special needs outside of the school setting.
