My name is Debra Cambridge, and I am thrilled to be teaching at Centennial Middle School! I have a wonderful husband, who is an engineer at Burns and McDonnell, and two fantastic children, both of whom graduated from ASU. (It feels like they were in middle school yesterday!) I grew up and attended school in Arizona. (Go SunDevils!) I then moved to the Kansas City area, where I worked as a police officer. After six years, my husband was transferred back to Arizona, where I developed training programs for corporations as well as the Department of Defense. I did the latter for another seven years and decided that if I did not follow my dream to teach children, I may never do so.
I have taught 5th, 6th, 7th graders as well as pre-Kinders and love being a part of the student-centered culture at Centennial.
As an Ahwatukee resident, I take advantage of having mountain trails at my doorstep almost every weekend. In addition to cycling and hiking, my husband and I enjoy camping and escaping the heat by heading to the mountains. As empty-nesters, we have discovered many ways to fill in the time previously spent attending to our kids lacrosse and dance schedules. It’s amazing how you actually miss the frenetic pace of that time!
I am so excited to get to know you and your children. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead. Please feel free to contact me anytime. I look forward to a great year!
