Welcome to 6th grade English Language Arts! I’m so excited to teach and get to know you this year.
I grew up in a small town about an hour and a half outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I graduated with a B.A. in Writing, but realized my senior year of college that teaching was my passion. I got a job teaching ESL in South Korea for a year following my graduation. Once my contract was up, I went back to Pennsylvania and enrolled in GCU for my M.Ed in Secondary Education. I graduated in 2013 and taught at Marion Center Jr./Sr. High school in a small rural town in PA for four years before moving to Arizona.
My passions are teaching and travelling. My husband and I travel to new and exciting places every chance we get. South Korea is my favorite destination so far, but I also love Scotland, England, and Honduras. I love to learn about the cultures and experiences of other people.
In addition to teaching and travelling, I enjoy spending time with my husband (Robert), daughter (Sophie), son (Mark), our 85 pound black lab/coonhound mix(Lando). In 2019, we adopted our puppy, Luna, from the Puppy Mama Rescue in Apache Junction. She is an English Setter and Australian Cattle Dog mix.
I love to crochet and read. The Harry Potter series really started my love of reading all the way back in fifth grade. Now, I read anything and everything! Please share your book recommendations with me! Most of the books I read during the school year are recommended to me by my students because I think it's fun to talk about it and get to know you.
Thanks for stopping by. I'm available by phone or email anytime. I’m so excited for this year!
