    About Mrs. Hanna

    Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to Pueblo and and to the Voyager Team!

I am thrilled to be a part of your child’s education this year and look forward to getting to know each student as individuals and learners.
Born in Nebraska, the daughter of University of Nebraska professor, makes me part Husker! Raised in Tucson, where my father taught at the University of Arizona for 26 years, I am even more a Wildcat! I graduated with my teaching degree from the U of A. I taught 6th grade in Tucson for three years then moved here to Chandler  Where I received my Master's Degree and a Reading Endorsement.

I am starting my 14th year teaching and 11 of those have been in the Kyrene District.  I have taught at both Altadena and Aprende but now I am thrilled to be a Pueblo Bulldog!

Outside of teaching I am married and have a son, Shea and a daughter, Brooke, who will be in 5th grade and 4th grade this year at Cielo! We have two dogs, a cat, a Winter White hampster and a lot of fish. We enjoy traveling in the summer and camping as often as we can. Being a parent sure has challenges but I am so proud of my family!

As we move forward with Common Core Standards it is more important that strong reading and writing skills are practiced and used in all subjects.  We will be doing this in both ELA and SS while we learn ancient civilizations, improve writing skills and grammar, while we read different types of genres and use technololy to research and present.  We will have fun and stay buys!
Communication with your children and their teachers is a necessary key to a successful 6th grade year. Please check our website frequently, know what your child has for homework, and ask them about what they are learning. Be involved! Feel free to email me any time with your questions and concerns. From there we will decide if a phone call or meeting is needed.

Let’s work together and make this a great year!
