About The Teacher
Hello! My name is Susan Peine
and I am excited to be a part of the 5th grade team at Kyrene de la Esperanza.
Teaching is my passion and I look forward to working with our students as we
explore, investigate, read, discuss and celebrate the many different ideas that
make up 5th grade.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in
Elementary Education from The University of Mount Union in Ohio and a Master of
Science in Education with a S.T.E.M focus from the University of Nevada in Reno.
I am also a National Board Certified Teacher with a
focus on students between the ages of 7 to 12.
My work experience includes many years of teaching 3rd, 4th, and
5th grade students and one year teaching prekindergarten. I've taught in
Cleveland, Ohio; Arlington, Virginia; Gallup, New Mexico; and most recently
I grew up as an Air Force "brat" and moved 8 times
before I was 18 years old. If you ask where I'm from, the short answer is "Ohio"
but I can always give you the long answer in person. My husband, son, and I now
call Phoenix home but our 85 pound black poodle misses living where we see snow
in the winter. Luckily, we love to travel and enjoy exploring the high desert
areas of the Southwest.
I love reading or listening
to a good story, running and hiking on a scenic trail, and drinking a strong,
dark coffee. When I'm not teaching, it's likely you'll find me on the trails of
South Mountain. I look forward to working with the students to ensure they have a
