International Baccalaureate (IB) Candidate School*Currently, KMS, along with all middle schools in Kyrene, will experience improvements as a result of the district’s middle school redesign. These changes are related to academic excellence, responsive instruction and support and student agency.
A three-year implementation plan describes exciting changes for KMS as we work to become an International Baccalaureate (IB) school. The three-year plan for implementation includes the use of IB methodologies: Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning and Global Contexts. Students will also participate in comprehensive projects that are integrated across curricular areas of study and involve real-world learning experience for our students. An IB program aims to develop internationally-minded learners, working within a global context and explores significant content. An IB program has a strong world language component which would provide our dual-language students with an option to continue their focus into middle school.
