International Baccalaureate (IB) SchoolCurrently, KMS, along with all middle schools in Kyrene, will experience improvements as a result of the district’s middle school redesign. These changes are related to academic excellence, responsive instruction and support and student agency.
A three-year implementation plan describes exciting changes for KMS as we work to become an International Baccalaureate (IB) school. The three-year plan for implementation includes the use of IB methodologies: Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning and Global Contexts. Students will also participate in comprehensive projects that are integrated across curricular areas of study and involve real-world learning experience for our students. An IB program aims to develop internationally-minded learners, working within a global context and explores significant content. An IB program has a strong world language component which would provide our dual-language students with an option to continue their focus into middle school.
IB Grading Practices
What is the IB?Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
