|About Mrs. Ny
Dear Parents and Students,
I want to introduce myself to you. This upcoming year is my fourth year of teaching. I had the opportunity to complete my Student Teaching Residency at Aprende Middle School five years ago! This year long Student Teaching through Arizona State University allowed me to receive the best learning and teaching strategies that I can bring to my classroom. I am excited to share this experience with you as we both learn and grow together.
Originally, I was born and raised in Barrington, Illinois. This area is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I came to Arizona in 2012 to study at Arizona State University to receive my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and I do not plan on leaving! I still have family in Chicago, but I only go back to visit once or twice a year.
I also love to travel and continue to learn and grow. A few summers ago I traveled to the Dominican Republic with an organization that facilitates international service learning opportunities for schools, businesses, organizations and groups. I was able to work with different teachers from the Dominican Republic each day. I talked about strategies to bring to their classroom that is proven to increase energy levels and engage their students which leads to retaining more information taught.
Last summer I had the opportunity to participate in AVID Path to Schoolwide Training in Queen Creek, Arizona for the second year in a row. It was during this training that I learned more startegies to use in the classroom and help make my classroom environment a comfortable and positive place for students to learn and grow. I am so excited to be at an AVID school to help your students become successful students and young adults as they prepare for the real world.
I love continuing to learn about something I already know or something that is new to me. I am a life-long learner at heart. This year I wish to increase energy, excitement, and enjoyment about learning in students. There is nothing more rewarding for students, teachers, and parents to look back and see that it was the best year ever! We all need to support each other and make sure each student is given what they need in order to succeed. So, please let me know if you have any questions, or just want to talk to me about anything. I am here to help you and your child.
