About Miss Clark
Dear Parents and Students,
I am extremely excited to be working with you all, here at Kyrene Middle School! I moved to Arizona July (2015) from Upstate New York, specifically, Rochester, to start a job at Sonoran Trails Middle School, in Cave Creek. I live in Tempe, so the commute was too much. Which brought me here to Kyrene!I grew up just a 5-minute walk away from Lake Ontario, one of the Great Lakes! The climate and landscape there is completely different from here in Arizona. On a positive note, I am enjoying every minute of the no rain, no snow environment I am currently in! I have been teaching and working with 7th graders now for 5 years; I just love this age group. I received my Bachelor's degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in 2010, and completed my Master's in 5-12 Literacy Education (reading/reading specialist) from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York in December 2014.
I very much enjoy teaching and working with kids to strive for excellence. Something I like most about English is there really is NO wrong answer, if you can back up answers with relevant evidence! I encourage my students to take risks in class and speak up. If there is a question, ask it!! More than likely, you are not the only one with that question. I like to have fun in class and create a welcoming environment for all students. Please know, you can always come to me with any problems, concerns, or suggestions.
Personally, I am a sports fanatic, and athletic; I still compete! Back home in Rochester, I was a part of 3 adult soccer teams, 2 co-ed, and 1 women's adult premiere team. I also, ran for a women's track and field team, racing in the hurdle events and other sprints! Unfortunately, I had to take these past two summer off as I made the move to Arizona. I am actively looking to join teams!! I also played beach volleyball, and court volleyball. In my free, time I love being on the water (swimming, kayaking, boating etc), hiking, or anything outdoors. I enjoy watching football and hockey. My favorite football team is the Buffalo Bills--extra credit to any student that says something nice about the Bills! (Haha) As far as hockey teams go, I am a Sabres fan. Yes I know my pick of teams means a very sad football and hockey season for me.
