About Mr. Crain

My name is Christian Crain and I am excited to be at Ninos this year!!  Along with my amazing instructional aides, I will be working in the Math Intervention Lab.  I strongly believe that the work in our school should be to develop your child's skills as a critical thinker and a problem solver.  When a child learns how to learn, they become empowered to take their education in the directions of their choosing.  The world changes so quickly that students need to be ready for any and every challenge.
My background is I am a lifelong educator and learner.  This will be my 30th year in the Kyrene School District.  I spent the first 19 years of my career teaching at Kyrene del Norte.  I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades.  I was also an academic coach specializing in Mathematics for 6 years.  As a Math Coach,  I worked with teachers in all grade levels on improving their instruction in mathematics.  Additionally, I spent 3 years as a Student Advisor in the district at Kyrene de la Estrella and Kyrene de las Lomas.  As the Student Advisor, I filled the role as the assistant administrator (principal).  Last year, I went back into the classroom as a 3rd grade teacher at Kyrene de la Sierra.  In moving to Ninos this year, that makes 8 schools in the district I have worked at.  So, as you can see, I have worn a lot of different hats.  But I believe the most important hat of all is that of a learner.  I believe as a teacher, we serve as a role model for our students. I want students to see that the process of education and learning never ends, we should always strive to improve and learn new things to make us better.
Outside of school, I enjoy being outdoors and active.  I love to hike (I've hiked the Grand Canyon many times), play golf, run, bike, etc.  I also enjoy challenging myself in the gym with crossfit workouts.  I'm a big sports fan with maroon and gold blood, go Devils!!! I also love the Diamondbacks and 49ers (sorry Cards).
