About The Teacher
Hi, my name is Señora Luz F. Ordosgoitia. I was born and raised in Colombia, in a Cartagena, a very touristic city on the Caribbean, in South America. I have a daughter and a son, both married, and two grandkids, a 4 years old girl, and a boy who just turned 1-year-old.I did all my studying in Colombia, getting my Bachelor degree in Economics and Business Administration, with a Master degree as Financial Advisor. I worked in the private sector for several years, but then I got a Master degree in motherhood (this is my favorite), and I became a mom 100%. Later, when the time to take my youngest child to Kindergarten came, I started volunteering, and right there I realized that deep inside me I have always wanted to be a teacher. I returned to school and obtained both teaching credentials and a Master degree in education. I taught for many years in an American accredited bilingual-bicultural school in Colombia, and then moved to the States 15 years ago.
Once in the States, my journey has taken me many to places and districts over the last years, but always in a bilingual setting. I have worked in Bilingual programs, ELL/ELD programs, Dual Language, and Spanish Immersion. This year I have the privilege and pleasure to have joined Kyrene District, and I am very excited to contribute in the growing of the Spanish speaker students. My passion is teaching, inspiring and challenging children to love learning. I enjoy working and helping students reach for their dreams through their education, keeping in mind that our main goal as teachers is to teach not only the basic academic skills, but also to develop good moral character, respect for authority, and respect toward their peers. A combination of academic intelligence and moral character makes health, decent citizens. An education should empower a child and help him or her make a positive contribution to our world.
I look forward to getting to know all of you this school year!
