About Señorita Russell
Dear Parents and Students,
Hello Rattlers! My name is Blair Russell and I am very excited to be teaching Spanish my second year at Akimel A-al Middle School. My love for Spanish began when I was first introduced to the language in high school, and continued throughout college and my adult life. I have previously taught Spanish at Corona del Sol High School in the Tempe Union High School District, and I now hope to instill my passion for teaching this language into my Kyrene middle school students to show them how Spanish is essential to our changing world, and most of all, FUN.
I grew up in North Carolina and received my Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Carolina. Through my studies I was able to travel to Seville, Spain to live for four months with my wonderful host family, as well as travel to ten different cities all over China following the Ancient Silk Road. After graduation I moved to Arizona to get my Master's in Education at ASU.
Still not able to shed the travel bug, I took a post-graduation trip to Senegal, Germany, Spain, France, and Belgium. Throughout my travels I learned so much about the importance of becoming a productive world citizen, and hope by sharing what I gained from these incredible experiences I will inspire my students to become world travelers and lifelong language learners themselves.
In my spare time, I love being outdoors, whether it's hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, swimming, or just exploring. I love football, specifically the Gamecocks and the Panthers, and spending time with my family. I'm an avid music lover, and appreciate live music in almost any venue.
I look forward to getting to know you all over the next year. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions or concerns you might have. ¡Hasta luego!
