I am excited to begin my 5th full year of teaching at Kyrene Middle School in the GATE/Prep Program and it is going to be a different, yet fantastic and fun year. The subjects I teach are; GATE 8th grade math, Algebra I, and Geometry.
I am a retired registered professional Civil Engineer having worked for the Arizona Department of Transportation, the City of Chandler and the City of Phoenix. I started my career in transportation, constructing many bridges and freeways across the State. I finished my career working with water and wastewater treatment and infrastructure for the Cities of Chandler and Phoenix. I believe I bring many “real world” scenarios to the classroom relating to math and engineering.
For many years I was responsible for large infrastructure projects and enjoyed educating the public about the projects I was working on. This work lead to my desire to become a teacher as I was coming to a close of my engineering career.
I grew up in Mesa and I am a graduate of Mesa High School. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineer (BSCE) and a Master's degree in Public Administration (MPA) both from Arizona State University. I completed my Teacher Preparation Program with a Certificate in Secondary Education from Rio Salado College. I am a Noyce Scholar and certified in secondary mathematics (6th through 12th grades).
It is my desire to provide my students with a strong math foundation in preparation for High School and College.
