    About The Speech-Language Pathologist

    Hello Wonderful Waggoner Parents,

My name is Susan Wright, and I am the Speech Language Pathologist who will be working with your child this year. This is my 8th school year in the Kyrene School District, and I am so excited to be back at Waggoner 5 days a week!

I grew up here in Arizona, and attended Arizona State University where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Hearing Science as well as my certificate of completion in the Speech Language Pathology Assistant program.

I graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2017; earning my Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology. I am now a fully licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with my American Speech Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-SLP)! I was also recently awarded my second Tempe Diablos Excellence in Education Award for Inspiration this past May (I previously received a Diablo for Rising Star in 2015).

This year, for the first quarter I will have an SLPA student (Mary Catherine) working with me to learn all the inside information about working in the school setting while she pursues her Speech-Language Pathology Assistant certification. I am also expecting my second daughter, Emma in early November and will be out on maternity leave from November-December. With all the holidays and fun activities the kiddos will hardly know I’m gone! I do have an incredible substitute who has worked in the Kyrene school district, taking over for those 7 weeks I’ll be gone so services will continue as usual.

I have had the opportunity to check in with each student as well as their classroom teacher over the last few days so regular services will hopefully be starting this Thursday!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or ideas regarding your child’s speech and language therapy. The best way to contact me is via email swright@kyrene.org or by phone: 480-541-5731 (please know I will not answer when working with students). I'm so excited to meet you, or work with you again and to get this 2019 school year off to a great start!
