    About The Teacher
    purple line
Hello FABULOUS first graders!  My name is Jessica Claussen and I am beyond excited to be working with you for the 2020 – 2021 school year.  This is going to be my seventh year teaching as a Monte Vista Lion! I began my career at Monte Vista and have taught fourth and fifth grades for the last six years. I am really excited to be teaching first grade this year. I can guarantee you that this year will be exciting and a lot of fun!

I was born in Albuquerque, NM and moved out to Arizona when I was in the fifth grade.  I graduated from Chandler High School and for my first three years of college, I went to Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO where I received a scholarship for synchronized swimming.  I returned to Arizona and completed my degree at Arizona State University (Go Devils!) with a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education. I participated in the iTeachAZ program in the Kyrene Cohort, where I student-taught in first grade, making this is my eighth year in the Kyrene School District. I absolutely love school, and cannot wait to pass my passion for learning on to you.

When I’m not teaching or planning awesome things for us to do at school… I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, especially my six-year-old nephew Camden and my brand new baby niece Harper. I can often be found playing with my dog Mistletoe or watching sporting events such as; ASU and Dallas Cowboys Football games as well as the World Series Champions, Chicago Cubs.  When we find time to relax, my husband and I enjoy traveling, hiking and dining-out (He is the reason for my conversion to the Chicago Cubs).

I am thrilled to share this year with you and make unforgettable memories.

    Mrs. Claussen
