Welcome to a Great School Year!

My name is Gisell De La Cruz and I am your child's Kindergarten Spanish teacher at Kyrene Del Norte this school year. I have been an educator for eighteen years and have worked with students in grades PreK-5th. Most of my teaching experience comes from working with students in dual language programs.  I lived in New York many years before moving to Arizona in 2003.  I am a mother of two boys ages fifteen and eleven. My family and I enjoy walking in the park and traveling.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Bilingual Education from The City University and The Hunter College of New York.  I have mentored other teachers in the past and have been involved in different school wide committees. I had the honor of being awarded with the Tempe Diablos Excellence in Education Award on February of 2005.

I believe that it is important to create an atmosphere in the classroom where there is respect, citizenship, cooperation, and kindness towards others. My method of teaching is one that involves a hands-on approach. I use different language strategies to help students be actively engaged  in the classroom and help develop their critical thinking skills.  As a teacher I use positive reinforcements to keep students motivated in the learning process.  I also believe that it is important to keep an open line of communication between parents and teachers. Together we can achieve greatness.  Every child can reach their highest potential!

I look forward to meeting you and your child.

    Sincerely,

    Gisell De La Cruz
