About Mrs. Dirvonas
Dear Parents and Students,Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! My name is Katie Dirvonas and I am looking forward to being your 4th grade teacher! I look forward to working alongside every family to ensure this year is a success.
This will be my ninth year at Kyrene de la Mirada Leadership Academy. I started as a student teacher at Mirada during the 2012-2013 school year, and then I joined the fifth grade team for six years. The entire Mirada community has become a family to me, and I am extremely proud to be a Monarch. This is my second year teaching fourth grade gifted, I am so excited to have the opportunity to support and challenge such an outstanding group of young students.
I was born in Illinois but have lived in Arizona for most of my life. I went to Arizona State University (Go Devils!) and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in European History. At ASU, I was a member of the Women's Lacrosse Team - a sport I played all through high school. Currently, I am head coach of the varsity girls lacrosse program at Corona del Sol High School.
Some of my other hobbies include reading (I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan), cooking, and spending time with my friends and family. I have three wonderful siblings, four adorable nephews - Connor, Owen, Adam, and Ben, and one niece - Mia. My husband, Brett, and I also love to spoil our Siberian Husky, Dakota, and our Wolf-Husky mix, Atlas.
Thank you for taking the time to look through my website. I am looking forward to having a wonderful school year! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
