| About Maryann Ramseyer
I grew up in a small town in Michigan and started my teaching career there. After teaching 5th grade in Michigan for two years, I moved to Arizona in 2003 and taught 5th grade at Kyrene del Paloma for nine years. From there I moved to Kyrene del Pueblo Middle School for seven years and I taught English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. I enjoyed teaching English Language Arts at Altadena Middle School last year and I had planned to finish the last third of my teaching career there. However, here I am, making the boldest career move of my life--teaching at the new Kyrene Digital Academy. So I am starting my 20th year of my teaching career in 2020 at an innovative, live-instruction, online school. It's going to be one for the record books!
In addition to holding a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with minors in Language Arts and Math from Saginaw Valley State University, I also was an interpreter for the Deaf before becoming a classroom teacher and I have an associate’s degree in Sign Language Interpretation. I earned my Master's degree in English Literature and Language from Central Michigan University and for my thesis project I wrote a young-adult fiction novel, for which I proudly hold one publication denial letter.
I'm looking forward to a great year learning and growing together.
