About Maryann Ramseyer
I grew up in a small town in Michigan and started my teaching career there as well. I taught 5th grade in Bay City, Michigan for two years, then I moved to Arizona in 2003 and taught 5th grade at Kyrene del Paloma for nine years. For the past seven years I have been a 6th and 7th grade teacher at Kyrene del Pueblo Middle School where I taught English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. I am excited to join the Altadena community and look forward to making new connections.
In addition to holding a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with minors in Language Arts and Math from Saginaw Valley State University, I also was an interpreter for the Deaf before becoming a classroom teacher and I have an associate’s degree in Sign Language Interpretation. I earned my Master's degree in English Literature and Language from Central Michigan University and for my thesis project I wrote a young-adult fiction novel, for which I proudly hold one publication denial letter.
Outside of the classroom walls, I am a busy momma of five little girls ranging in ages from three to ten--all whom I adopted through the foster care system. My Fab Five and I enjoy swimming, going to the zoo, burning off energy at trampoline gyms, and vegging around the house together.
I'm looking forward to a great year learning and growing together.
