    purple line

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself to newcomers. My name is Melissa Patrone and I am honored to be your child’s teacher this year. This is my eighth year of teaching, but fourth year at Colina and I am so excited to be here. I previously taught Extended Resource-DD K-2 the last five years…(Welcome back returning kiddos and parents!) , Lomas Extended Resource- DD (k-2), Resource@ Waggoner (K-5) and Extended Resource Cross Categorical for 2 years (K-5 andK-2) in other districts. I also have personal experience working with children whom have multiple disabilities having grown up with a sibling with special needs. I have a master’s degree in Special Education – Cross Categorical K-12.I currently reside in Chandler with my husband, daughter and 6… yes 6 pets (2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 rabbit and 1 fish). As you can tell I love animals, as well as children.

I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact meif you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can send me a note or email me at mpatrone@kyrene.org. I will also do my part by sending home a monthly academic newsletter on Fridays with your child to update you on what we have been doing in class, as well as things that are up coming. For individual concerns/milestones, I will contact you by phone, send a note home daily, or email you. If you feel the need for daily communication please let me know and I will email you a “snapshot” of their day or provide your child with a communication book (please specific which you prefer).

Please feel free to participate in our classroom as much as you are able. Helping hands are always welcome.Whether it is reading a story to the class, helping with field trips or class parties, or any other participation that will enrich our classroom experiences. If you would like to volunteer in our classroom please let me know so I can give you informationregarding volunteering. Every morning the students will have a20 minute snack time. Please send a snack in with your child every day or enough snacks to last your child the entire week. One of the papers you were given was a student/parent information form. It is very important that I am aware of any food allergies your child may have. Again, do not hesitate to contact me at any time with any questions, comments or concerns. I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year with you and your child!

    Sincerely,

     Melissa Patrone
