    Dear Parents and Students,

I am very eager to begin the 2016-2017 school year here at Kyrene del Norte!  I am very excited to be teaching Spanish for the Dual Language program. I strongly believe that second language learning greatly benefits our students and sets them up for a successful future. My goal is to have your child be not only bilingual and biliterate as they exit first grade but also have an appreciation for the world and its cultures.

I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico and moved here when I was 8 years old. I love my culture, language and most of all my family! I have many hobbies, such as reading, painting, and spending time with my family. I  married my high school sweetheart in March of 2012!  We are looking forward to traveling and spending time with each other while he finishes his degree in environmental engineering at ASU (go Sun Devils!). We have 1 dog (Sam) and a two year old son (Diego). We love spending time with Diego and taking him to new places. You will probably hear a lot of stories from your child about my family!

Professionally, this will be my 5th year teaching. I have taught first and second grade in various districts. My heart truly lies in Spanish teaching and building a Dual Language Academy. I graduated from Arizona State University from the Multicultural-Multilingual Education Program in May of 2009.

Our classroom will be filled with child-centered inquiries where each student can reach their highest potential. Meaningful learning which actively engages the students is essential for language learning to occur. We will work on expanding your child’s language acquisition through songs, literature, hands-on activities and real-life experiences that will make learning Spanish a very fun and rewarding experience.

Together, we can help your child have a successful  year in 1st grade! I look forward to strong partnership!

    Sincerely,

      Maestra
